Located in 597 BC, the play tells the story of Zhao Dun, Prime Minister in the kingdom of King Jinling. Threatened by the popularity of Zhao Du, he calls back Tu Anjia, a cruel and ambitious man who also happens to be the latter’s political rival. Tu Anjia also manages to convince King Jinling of Zhao Dun’s disloyalty, as a result of which his entire family, except his new born son is executed.
