Main Rahi Masoom is a biographical sketch of the famous writer, the late Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza. The first of its kind on Rahi, the play looks at Rahi’s journey from his birth in Gangauli, a small village in the Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh to his death and nazm, Vaseeyat, in which he expresses his final wish to be laid to rest in the lap of the Ganga. The 70-minute monologue shows the passion and ideology of Rahi, the poet as well as Rahi, the man, with a special focus on his hatred of communal and vote-bank politics. It tells of how, right till the end of his life he tried to fight against divisive forces through his writing, and how, as a staunch critic of pseudo-secularism, he took hard stands against fundamentalists on both sides of the divide.
